Key Responsibilities

  • Build and manage infrastructure and tooling aligned with industry best practices in deployments, operational excellence, security, reliability, performance efficiency, cost optimization, scalability, and high availability
  • Work daily with key technologies including AWS, Postgres, Redis, Docker, CircleCI, Queues, Kinesis Streams, and much more.
  • Perform, document, automate and streamline build, provisioning, and deployment processes
  • Monitor, support and analyze our platform and systems, including participating in on-call rotation and escalation
  • Automate system management tasks using python or other scripting languages
  • Work collaboratively with engineering and data science teams in troubleshooting and fixing software issues
  • Track and manage system and software patches and upgrades
  • Empower development teams to deliver value quickly and accurately

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or relevant work experience
  • 3+ year technical experience in engineering, development, or devops fields
  • 2+ years experience deploying and managing systems using Amazon Web Services
  • Proven “doer” attitude with ability to self-start and take a project to completion
  • Familiarity with container orchestration (Kubernetes, Fargate, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tooling (CloudFormation, Terraform, ARM)
  • Experience working with CI/CD automated deployments
  • Experience with Linux server management, bash scripting, SSH keys, SSL/TLS certificates, MFA, cron, and log files
  • Deep understanding of AWS networking (VPCs, subnets, security groups, route tables, internet gateways, NAT gateways, nacls); IAM policies; DNS, Route53, and domain management
  • Familiarity with SaaS, virtualization, and containerization
  • Strong analytical and debugging skills
  • Desire to help take Pattern to the next level through exploration and innovation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience deploying applications on EC2, ECS, Fargate with ELB/ALB and Auto Scaling Groups
  • Experience with the software development life cycle, CI/CD, git, and code build pipelines
  • Experience with container and virtualization provisioning including docker, vagrant, and AWS CLI
  • Experience with high-level languages like Java, JavaScript, Ruby, Go, and Python
  • Experience deploying serverless applications with Lambda, API Gateway, Cognito, CloudFront, and the Serverless Framework
  • Data pipeline experience, Kafka or similar
  • A focus on following security best practices while building great tools
